During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Elantra GT doesn't offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the Fit and the Elantra GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front-wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes and lane departure warning systems.

There are over 24 percent more Honda dealers than there are Hyundai dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Fit's warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the Fit Auto LX CVT 1.5 4 cyl. (128 HP) gets better fuel mileage than the Elantra GT with its standard 4 cyl. (33 city/40 hwy vs. 25 city/32 hwy).

The Fit Auto has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The Elantra GT doesn't offer a CVT.

The Honda Fit may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 pounds less than the Hyundai Elantra GT.

The Fit is 9.5 inches shorter than the Elantra GT, making the Fit easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

As tested by Car and Driver while cruising at 70 MPH, the interior of the Fit EX is quieter than the Elantra GT N Line (69 vs. 71 dB).

The Fit has .4 inches more front headroom and 4.5 inches more rear legroom than the Elantra GT.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Fit's rear seats recline. The Elantra GT's rear seats don't recline.

A Maintenance Minder is standard on the Fit to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes, spark plug replacement, air filter replacement, tire rotation, radiator flush and transmission fluid replacement based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Hyundai doesn't offer a maintenance reminder on the Elantra GT.

The Fit Automatic offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The Elantra GT doesn't offer a remote starting system.

The Fit's driver's power window opens or closes with one touch of the window control, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths. The Elantra GT's standard driver's power window switch has to be held the entire time to close it fully.

The Fit's driver power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Elantra GT's power lock and power mirror switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.
