The Sentra has standard driver and passenger side airbags combined with three-point seat belts, a combination which is 29% more effective in preventing injury and death than seatbelts alone.

To maximize occupant safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Nissan Sentra have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Nissan Sentra are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up.

The Sentra has shoulder harnesses for all passengers. Shoulder harnesses are 10% more effective than lap belts in preventing injuries from collisions. Recent studies indicate that lap belts alone may cause as many or more injuries than they prevent.

The Sentra has standard child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Sentra are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out.

The Nissan Sentra has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision.

The Sentra has standard front and rear seat side-impact airbags and head airbags for both seat rows, which act as a forgiving barrier between the passengers and the door. Combined with high-strength steel door beams this system increases protection from broadside collisions.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Sentra deploy with different levels of force or don't deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. Airbags without smart features will always deploy full force.

The Sentra has standard four-wheel antilock disc brakes for quicker stops and controlled steering ability, especially under poor traction conditions.

The Sentra has standard Automatic Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn't react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Sentra (except S/SV) offers optional Rear Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision.

For much better traction, the Sentra has front-wheel drive. While accelerating the rear wheels of a rear-wheel drive vehicle can break loose, causing it to fishtail or even spin and lose control completely. ‘Oversteering' or spinning in a rear wheel drive car requires counter-steering, and backing off the gas may not help.

To prevent wheel-spin and loss of control under poor traction conditions, full range traction control is standard on the Nissan Sentra.

The Sentra has standard Vehicle Dynamic Control, which uses the antilock brake hardware along with powerful software and additional sensors to detect the beginning of a skid. Vehicle Dynamic Control then intervenes by automatically applying the brake at one appropriate wheel, preventing a skid. A National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study showed that skid control systems reduced single-vehicle car crashes by 30%.

The Nissan Sentra has Daytime Running Lights to help keep it more visible under all conditions. Canadian government studies show that driving with lights during the day reduces accidents by 11% by making vehicles more conspicuous.

The Sentra's lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane.

The Sentra (except S/SV) offers an optional HD Around View® Monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen.

The Sentra's blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle's blind spots where the side view mirrors don't reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Sentra's standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions.

The Sentra's driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year.

For better protection of the passenger compartment, the Sentra uses safety cell construction with a three-dimensional high-strength frame that surrounds the passenger compartment. It provides extra impact protection and a sturdy mounting location for door hardware and side impact beams. A body-on-frame design has no frame members above the floor of the vehicle.

A hardened steel chain, with no maintenance needs, drives the camshafts in the Sentra's engine. If a rubber cam drive belt that needs periodic replacement breaks, the engine could be severely damaged when the pistons hit the opened valves.

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the Sentra has an overhead cam design, rather than an old pushrod design.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Sentra has a standard 150-amp alternator.

J.D. Power and Associates' 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are excellent in initial quality. J.D. Power ranks Nissan second in initial quality.

For better stopping power the Sentra's brake rotors are large:

Sentra

Front Rotors

11 inches

Rear Rotors

10.2 inches

The Sentra's standard front disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading.

The Nissan Sentra has standard four-wheel disc brakes for better stopping power and improved directional control in poor weather. Drums can heat up and make stops longer.

For better traction, the Sentra has large 205/60R16 standard tires. The Sentra SL's optional tires are larger 215/50R17.

The Sentra S/SV's standard tires provide better handling because they have a low 60 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall. The Sentra SR's tires have a lower 45 series profile.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Sentra S/SV has standard 16-inch wheels. The Sentra SR has standard 18-inch wheels.

The Nissan Sentra's wheels have 5 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength.

The Sentra has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle's integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure.

The Nissan Sentra's independent front suspension is much lighter than a solid front axle, which allows the Sentra's wheels to react more quickly and accurately to the road's surface, improving both ride and handling.

For superior ride and handling, the Nissan Sentra has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort.

The Sentra has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Sentra flat and controlled during cornering.

The front and rear suspension of the Sentra uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than leaf springs. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

For much better steering response and tighter handling the Sentra has rack and pinion steering, like Formula racecars, instead of a recirculating-ball type.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Sentra's wheelbase is 106.5 inches.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Sentra is 61.9 to 62.5 inches wide in the front and 61.7 to 62.4 inches wide in the rear.

The Sentra's front to rear weight distribution is an even 62.1% to 37.9%. This gives the Sentra more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the Sentra's turning circle is 34.8 feet.

The Nissan Sentra may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs only 3097 to 3153 pounds.

The Sentra is only 183.3 inches long, making the Sentra easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Sentra is only 71.5 inches wide, making it easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Sentra is only 57.1 inches in height, making the Sentra much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

Unibody construction makes the Sentra's chassis much stiffer, which contributes to better handling, and enables softer springs to be used for a better ride. Unibody construction's stiffness also contributes to better durability and less body squeaks and rattles.

To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the Sentra has an electronically controlled liquid-filled front engine mount. A computer-controlled electric current in the liquid changes its viscosity, allowing the mount to dampen the engine completely at all RPMs.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Sentra has standard flush composite headlights.

The Sentra SV/SR/SL has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior, with the optional automatic climate control feature.

The Sentra's standard tilting steering column adjusts to different sized drivers and makes entering and exiting easier.

To help each driver find a more comfortable driving position, the Sentra has a telescoping steering wheel. Much better than just a tilt steering wheel or adjustable seat, this allows a short driver to sit further from the steering wheel while maintaining contact with the pedals.

The Sentra's power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically.

The Sentra's standard power windows allow the driver or passenger to lower and raise the windows without leaning over or being distracted.

The Sentra's driver's power window opens or closes fully with one touch of the switch, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths.

The Sentra's standard power locks allow the driver or passenger to lock or unlock all the doors at a touch without leaning over, or reaching to the back seat.

The Sentra's power locks have a lockout prevention feature. When the key is in the ignition or smart key is in the passenger compartment and the driver's door is open, the locks unlock every time you lock them.

The Sentra's standard doors lock when a certain speed is reached. This is an important feature for occupant safety. Locked doors are proven to open less often in collisions, and they are also effective in preventing crime at traffic lights.

The Push Button Start standard on the Sentra allows you to start the engine without removing the key from the pocket or purse. The Sentra SV/SR/SL's available Intelligent Key also allows you to unlock the doors from either front outside door handle and open the trunk.

The Sentra has two rear doors to provide better access for cargo and rear passengers.

The Sentra's speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn't have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers.

The Sentra's LED headlights produce a whiter, brighter light (up to 3x) using five times less power than halogen headlights. LED lights also light instantly and last over twenty times longer than halogen.

The Sentra has a standard automatic headlight on/off feature. When the ignition is on, the headlights automatically turn on at dusk and off after dawn.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Sentra detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams.

The Sentra's standard side window demisters help clear frost or condensation from the side windows in the winter. Without side window demisters the driver may have to wipe the windows from the outside to gain side vision.

To shield the driver and front passenger's vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Sentra SV/SR/SL has standard extendable sun visors.

The Sentra's sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows.

The Sentra has standard power remote mirrors. Without a remote driver side or passenger side mirror the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The Sentra's available outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility.

The Sentra's optional rear view mirror has an automatic dimming feature. This mirror can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on it, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver.

Unlike fixed side view mirrors, the Nissan Sentra features foldable mirrors that offer convenience for drivers and pedestrians alike. When parked, these mirrors can be manually folded to create a smaller footprint, making it easier to walk past or park more vehicles in an area. Additionally, the Nissan Sentra's foldable exterior mirrors are designed to absorb impact force if struck, reducing the likelihood of costly repairs.

The Sentra offers optional heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter.

On extremely cold winter days, the Sentra's optional (except S) heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up.

The Sentra has a standard center folding armrest for the driver and front passenger. A center armrest helps combat driver fatigue.

The Sentra SR/SL has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children.

The Sentra (except S/SV)'s optional dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won't have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible.

The Sentra SV/SR/SL's standard automatic temperature control maintains the temperature you set, automatically controlling fan speed, vents and temperature to maintain a consistent, comfortable environment.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the Sentra SR/SL has standard rear heat vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Sentra has a standard Intelligent Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic.

To help keep the driver's hands on the wheel, the Sentra has standard steering wheel controls for the radio.

Standard smartphone integration for the Sentra allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel.

The Nissan Sentra eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its optional integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the rear view mirror.

The Sentra is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Sentra offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM.

Compared to traditional radio, the Nissan Sentra optionally equipped with SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks.

Bluetooth wireless connectivity is standard on the Sentra, connecting the driver and passenger's cell phones to the vehicle systems. This allows them to use the vehicle's stereo and hand controls to place calls safely and easily.
