The Mustang has standard Post Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Charger doesn't offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the Mustang and Charger have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Mustang has Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Charger's Rear Cross Path Detection doesn't automatically brake.

Both the Mustang and the Charger have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

There are over 18 percent more Ford dealers than there are Dodge dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Mustang's warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates' 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ford vehicles are better in initial quality than Dodge vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Ford above average in initial quality. With 122 more problems per 100 vehicles, Dodge is rated below average.

The Mustang stops much shorter than the Charger:

The Mustang's standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Charger Daytona R/T Coupe's standard 55 series tires. The Mustang Dark Horse's optional tires have a lower 30 series profile than the Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe's 35 series tires.

The Mustang offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn't available on the Charger; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Mustang Dark Horse handles at 1.07 G's, while the Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe pulls only .96 G's of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Mustang Dark Horse executes Motor Trend's “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe (23.7 seconds @ .86 average G's vs. 24.1 seconds @ .84 average G's).

For better maneuverability, the Mustang's turning circle is 3.5 feet tighter than the Charger Coupe's (36.5 feet vs. 40 feet). The Mustang GT/Dark Horse's turning circle is 2.2 feet tighter than the Charger Coupe's (37.8 feet vs. 40 feet).

The Ford Mustang may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1750 to 2100 pounds less than the Dodge Charger.

The Mustang is 1 foot, 5.1 inches shorter than the Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe, making the Mustang easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Mustang Convertible uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Charger doesn't offer active noise cancellation.

The Mustang has a 1000 lbs. towing capacity. The Charger has no towing capacity.

The Ford Mustang comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Dodge Charger isn't available as a convertible.
