The Buick Envision comes with a standard HD Surround Vision, while the Volvo XC60 doesn't offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the Envision and the XC60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available front parking sensors.

Buick's powertrain warranty covers the Envision 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Volvo covers the XC60. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the XC60 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 3 times as many Buick dealers as there are Volvo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Envision's warranty.

The Envision has a standard “limp home system” to keep drivers from being stranded if most or all of the engine's coolant is lost. The engine will reduce its power and light a warning lamp on the dashboard so the driver can get to a service station for repairs. The XC60 doesn't offer a lost coolant limp home mode, so a coolant leak could strand you or seriously damage the truck's engine.

J.D. Power and Associates' 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Buick vehicles are better in initial quality than Volvo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Buick above average in initial quality. With 75 more problems per 100 vehicles, Volvo is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates' 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Buick vehicles are more reliable than Volvo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Buick second in reliability, above the industry average. With 99 more problems per 100 vehicles, Volvo is ranked 26th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports' March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Buick vehicles are more reliable than Volvo vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Buick 4 places higher in reliability than Volvo.

As tested in Consumer Reports the Buick Envision is faster than the XC60 B5 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine's cylinders helps improve the Envision's fuel efficiency. The XC60 doesn't offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Both the Envision and the XC60 have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. All Envisions have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. The XC60 T8 doesn't offer a way to disable start/stop.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Buick Envision uses regular unleaded gasoline. The XC60 requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Buick Envision, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the XC60.

The Envision stops shorter than the XC60:

The front and rear suspension of the Envision uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the XC60, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The Envision offers an available continuously variable suspension system. Using sensors on steering angle, speed and other driver inputs, the shocks soften to improve ride, or stiffen when appropriate to aid handling on tricky roads or off-road. The XC60's suspension doesn't offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Envision's drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The XC60 doesn't offer drift compensation steering.

The front grille of the Envision uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The XC60 doesn't offer active grille shutters.

The Envision uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The XC60 doesn't offer active noise cancellation.

The Envision has 1.6 inches more front headroom, .9 inches more rear headroom and 1.3 inches more rear legroom than the XC60.

The Envision has a much larger cargo volume than the XC60 with its rear seat up (25.2 vs. 22.4 cubic feet).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Buick service is better than Volvo. J.D. Power ranks Buick 9th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 18% lower rating, Volvo is ranked 23rd.

The Envision's standard easy entry system glides the driver's seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The XC60 doesn't offer an easy entry system.

The Envision's instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights' don't warn you until damage has been done. The XC60 has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

To shield the driver and front passenger's vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Envision has standard extendable sun visors. The XC60 doesn't offer extendable visors.

The Envision is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the XC60, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Envision offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the XC60.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the Envision equipped with available HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The XC60, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Buick Envision empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Buick Envision has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the XC60.

The Envision Avenir has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The XC60 doesn't offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Envision Avenir's Enhanced Automatic Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting and stopping automatically, with the driver only responsible for switching from reverse to drive. The XC60 doesn't offer an automated parking system.

According to iSeeCars.com the 2025 Buick Envision retains 46.68% of its original value after 5 years, more than the 46.33% resale value of the 2025 Volvo XC60 after five years, which can save the Buick's owner up to $5788.5898 in depreciation.

Consumer Reports® recommends both the Buick Envision and the Volvo XC60, based on reliability, safety and performance.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Envision second among compact suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner's expectations. The XC60 isn't in the top three in its category.
